Day 53-54 Bangkok and on to Vietnam

It has been a very busy part of the trip and very difficult for me to catch up on my blog. We haven't been in one place long enough for me to get situated. I promise, I have tons of pics of Bangkok to post, but I will do it later.

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE has a moped here. It makes me jealous. I want a moped! Not a new fancy one, but an older Vespa. Either light yellow or light green, with a sidecar for Addy!

I do have a little story to share about shopping in Bangkok. I went into a store that had a cute outfit in the window, a top and skirt. When I went in the girl said to me in broken English "We have big sizes!" I was thinking, "is she talking to me?" The previous day I was shopping and tried on somethings, and from what I could figure a size 6 was the Large. I'm a size 8. I did find a "big" size in the top and skirt from the window that fit and purchased myself a new outfit! The people in Thailand are tiny. I don't mean short, but tiny around. The men are that way as well. So I guess to them I am a giant!

Anxious to hear your favorite part of Vietnam.

Wow, can't believe you've just got a month left. On the other hand, what more is there to see in a month?

Sure do hope you are eating up all the yummy food you're around.

Your shopping experience makes me think of all the unabashed comments I got from foreigners...'fofinho' in Portugal ('fluffy')...'fat' in China...'how much did you pay?'...'how old?'...'I don't like your clothes'...you always know where you stand in their eyes.

Wow...really? If you are a giant I must be a SUPER giant--Like Andre the Giant Giant. Well, thanks I will most certainly make sure that should I ever go Bangkok that I pack more than enough clothes b/c otherwise I might have to make my own distress outfit out of several pairs of their pants and three or four tops, and a size 9 1/2 shoe is probably the size of a t-rex footprint to them! Hope you find new amazement in Vietnam.

FYI: I looked up the snake drink; the gallbladder is extracted and mixed with the snake's blood and whiskey. The article said travelers have reported stomach cramps. Enjoy.

Kristi and I went to a national park in China. While there, we walked past a restaurant and outside they were killing, skinning a removing the gall bladder of a snake. Everyone at the table got to eat the snake, but the person who covered the tab had the priviledge of drinking the gall bladder in their version of whiskey...needless to say, I didn't invite anyone out for fresh snake.

I feel as though I should let you know that I have had no stomach trouble, which for me is good. If there is stomach trouble to be had, I'll get it. I would not have had any snake wine, had I known it was gallbladder and blood.

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that I have not abandoned everyone, but we have not stopped. We rode on the Mekong river today. I will update I promise, but I have had little to no time.

When did the snake beverage happen???

The snake wine happened on Sunday at the Vietcong tunnels. It seemed like a novel thing to do. I happen to have gotten the title of "Royal Taster".

I noticed on different web sites, a lot of people riding mopeds have on masks. Wonder why? Is there pollution, or do they worry about bird flu?
